A man might spend twenty minutes trying to tuck in his shirt, but as it turns out, he’ll probably miss the other little details that a woman notices about him first.
The shoes below everything else

Everyone walks in feet first, including men, and that’s why a pair of shoes is so hard to ignore. Women immediately recognize how good or bad a guy’s shoes look. Yes, they’ll see that the gray laces used to be white.
They’ll recognize that the heel’s wearing down sideways, and they’ll also see that little ridge of dried dirt around the sole. She doesn’t even need to stare at his feet to see all this. All the signs are right in front of her, and they tell her a lot about what kind of guy he is.
The tiny pause before his turn

It doesn’t take long to notice how somebody acts when you’re talking. Women certainly pick up on it. They can see when a man’s actually waiting for them to finish speaking, and they can see when he’s listening to what they have to say.
Interruptions are hard to miss once they happen twice. A single interruption doesn’t have to be too bad, and most women recognize that, but five minutes of constant sentence-stealing is something else. It tells a woman that this kind of guy only really cares about himself.
The hands that keep fixing things

It’s perfectly normal to tug your shirt now and again. So is running a hand through your hair once. It’s not so normal when a guy keeps doing it, though. Women notice when a guy keeps adjusting or checking his appearance, and it suggests that he’s pretty nervous.
She’s not consciously counting any of it, of course. That’d be strange. But these repeated grooming motions naturally catch a woman’s eye because they’re happening right in front of her. She knows everything about his level of confidence from all that grooming.
Where the beard suddenly changes

Facial hair’s one thing, what happened to it in the morning is another. Surprise surprise, women are great at figuring out the difference between the two, and they’ll see how much effort he’s put into his facial hair. The same goes for how little effort he’s put in, too.
The lines of his beard count, so do the mustache and any hair curling above his lip. Let’s not forget about beard density, either, that’s also important. A woman doesn’t need barber-level knowledge here or anything. His face is right there, and the uneven details pop out.
The compliment with an actual detail

It’s true, women love compliments like the next person. But they’re also good at recognizing when a guy’s giving them actual compliments, or saying something completely generic. For example, saying ‘That color looks good on you’ is very different to ‘You look nice.’
The first compliment suggests a guy actually looked at a woman. The second is one that came prepared. Put it this way, a compliment connected to something real tends to sound quite different from one that anyone could’ve given.
The few inches around his eyes

Everyone knows about eye contact. Sure, that’s important, but the skin around the eyes is also doing its own thing, and things like the amount of puffiness underneath matter. So do dry patches and fine creases, along with any redness or dark areas.
Women can spot every single one of those details. They’re looking at a man’s face, anyway. Changing the texture around the eyes affects how a woman judges a man’s face in terms of age and health, as well as attractiveness. A little skin, a lot of attention.
When masculinity feels turned up

There are times when masculinity looks perfectly fine, and then there are times when it seems like a guy’s turned it up a notch. Women can tell when a guy drops his voice lower after meeting a woman. They can see when he sits wider or speaks louder.
They also see when he starts using bigger gestures than he was using thirty seconds earlier, because it’s pretty obvious. All those details arrive together to tell a woman one thing. This is a guy who’s pretty insecure in his masculinity.
The posture between the big moments

It’s way too easy to forget about your posture, and that’s when it becomes a lot easier to notice. Women recognize how a guy straightens up when he’s talking, and then slumps when somebody else takes over. They see all those changes rather quickly.
It’s all to do with the fact that women are looking at the whole person, not simply his face, and it can reveal quite a lot about a guy. It could be that he’s confident, it could be that he’s lazy. It could be a lot of things.
The mouth at conversation distance

A guy has great hair, excellent, he has nice eyes as well, perfect. He even dresses well. But then a woman looks at his lips and sees that they’re painfully dry. Ouch. It’s the sort of detail that becomes pretty obvious once he starts talking, and it can say a lot about self-care.
Cracked corners and peeling skin suggest that he’s not looking that closely in the mirror. Chapped patches say the same thing, too.
Teeth also tell a story. Yellow teeth with food stuck in them stand out. It says a lot about a guy’s hygiene standards.
The last few inches of the outfit

Most guys aren’t thinking about their socks. Maybe they should. Turns out, women notice when a guy’s trousers rise as he sits down, and they get to see his socks in all their glory. Socks bunched around the ankles say that a guy’s not paying attention to the little details.
Bright white socks with dark dress shoes show that he has no fashion sense. As for gym socks, well, they tell a woman everything she needs to know about the guy’s athletic abilities.
