Italy has been impacting the rest of the world’s perception of beauty for hundreds of years. Italians are known for having dark hair, big eyes, defined features, and confidence. Trends that start in Seoul can become global trends in a matter of months. Korean beauty ideals are definitely not for everyone, and they can be pretty high maintenance, but you can’t deny Korea’s impact.
The Scandinavian effect
Sweden has traditionally been known for their Scandinavian beauty. Being tall with fair skin, blue/green eyes, and blond hair has been a stereotype associated with Swedish people, despite Sweden today being much more ethnically diverse. Swedish models and actors continue to keep a global spotlight on Sweden.
Swedish beauty has also been linked to how they present themselves. Simple clothes, little makeup, subtle-looking grooming, and overall low-maintenance beauty go hand in hand with Scandinavia’s beauty.
Latin America’s pageant powerhouse
Beauty pageants have become something of a national pastime in Venezuela. With few countries boasting similar success at international pageants, contestants often spend years training in aspects from styling and exercise to poise and public speaking.

France teaches us that beauty isn’t synonymous with picture-perfect. The concept of French beauty that we know worldwide can be linked to being chic, confident, unique, and having a natural makeup look and wearing outfits that look chic but not try-hard.

Dark hair and eyes, pronounced brows, and chiseled features trend as the nation’s ideal beauty look. Türkiye also has a longstanding history in hair and fashion grooming.
Eastern Europe’s striking reputation
Ukraine has long carried an international reputation for beautiful Eastern European women. Ukraine has produced successful models, performers, and beauty-pageant contestants for decades. The stereotype often focuses on women of tall stature with accentuated facial features and lighter colored eyes.
