#1 Cats

“Cats” tried to make the hit musical a movie — but was a public disgrace.
The movie was criticized for weird CGI — it made the characters appear really fake and unnatural. It was also failed by the muddled plot and wacky casting decisions. It’s the odd, recurring things that fans made note of — such as Jason Derulo’s facial features and Judy Dench’s visible wedding ring — that made “Cats” synonymous with film fail.
#2 Eragon

Man, I grew up on those books, and I just remember coming out of that theatre and being totally lost. I get book adaptations need to play games with it from time to time to make it work on another platform but they s**t the plot so bad you can literally not make the sequel, and no one needed it anyway. Completely off the rails nonsense.
It’s not easy to bring popular books to the big screen – which is what happened with “Eragon”. People remember the disorientation they experienced after exiting the cinema – with the movie so out of whack with the plot that a sequel seemed like an unlikely fantasy. The dissatisfaction is real, especially for those who loved the original.
#3 Food Fight

Food Fight is an animated movie that failed big time — it had a $65 million budget and only made $73,000 at the box office. The movie is set in a grocery store and the mascots of major brands awake after hours. It was an ambitious idea but the film had poor animation, a loose storyline & strange character designs. Reviewers called it “exorbitantly bad” for the poor execution.
#4 Catwoman (2004)

Catwoman – even with its $100 million budget – is often known as one of the worst films ever made. The movie departs very much from the source comics & gives a different and puzzling backstory to the original character. The character of Catwoman – played by Halle Berry – was criticized and the film wasn’t popular enough with comic book fans and others. The movie is only remembered as a costly, bad film.
#5 Battlefield Earth

Battlefield Earth is based on a book by L Ron Hubbard – it was not a good film and not a great adaptation. It had crazy camera angles, too much ‘yelling’ and visuals that turned people off. Users call the movie a great lesson for what not to do for film students. A total let-down.
#6 The Mummy (2017)

“The Mummy” (2017) tried to establish a film universe called the Dark Universe with the old Universal Monsters. The movie starred Tom Cruise and follows Nick Morton who wakes up an evil mummy named Princess Ahmanet. Even with a star-studded cast and intriguing concept, the film was decried for a lacklustre production design, an unhappy feel and overuse of CGI. The attempt to open up a collective universe was a failure: the movie didn’t quite have the appeal or energy of the 1999 release, the viewership wasn’t captivated and the Dark Universe project was dead in its tracks.
#7 The Last Airbender

“The Last Airbender” tried to bring the wildly popular animated series to live-action and it got massive flak for not doing a good job. The movie is about Aang, the last Airbender, who sets out to learn to control the elements and defeat the Fire Nation. Its source material is very popular but the casting was wrong, dialogues were bad and the movie did not capture the original’s complexity. It was called a massive disaster.
#8 Wonder Woman 1984

It’s the 1980s and superhero Diana Prince has to fight a new villain – a woman with bigger superpowers granted from a magical Dreamstone — which grants wishes but at a cost. While the first movie of the series was a hit – this film was criticized for a simple story and lack of character. The storyline and execution of the film left viewers unsatisfied and this was one of the most disappointing superhero films of all time.
#9 The Dark Tower

“The Dark Tower” tries to turn Stephen King’s epic book series into a film with some fantasy and western elements. The film — starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey — received harsh reviews for its choppy pace, undeveloped characters, and narrative that didn’t carry over the content of the source. The books’ readers were especially hurt by how the film lost track of the complex plot, leaving fans feeling like they were “cheated” with not enough delivered.
#10 Dark Phoenix

“Dark Phoenix” is a superhero movie that tries to replicate the “Dark Phoenix Saga” from the X-Men comic books on the big screen with Jean Grey turning into the threatening Phoenix. The film — starring Sophie Turner — received flak for the loose structure, mediocre characters, and lacklustre adaptation of the classic plot. There was much outrage from fans that the film didn’t quite match up to the epic scale of the comics, which is why the reception was so negative. The high cost of what appeared to be a poor adaptation made the film a classic superhero failure.
#11 Bright

“Bright” is set in a world where humans and monsters live together. The movie follows two LAPD cops, one human (Will Smith) and one orc (Joel Edgerton), who take on a rough cityscape. Even as an ambitious effort to marry fantasy and satire, the film was criticized for its unfocused plot & lack of cohesiveness. This film had a $90 million budget but was nothing special when it came to creating an unforgettable movie — and it went down in popularity with audiences — giving it the label of a mediocre, bland effort for all that money spent.
#12 The Hobbit Trilogy

The Hobbit trilogy adapts J.R.R. Tolkien’s book — and tells a story of Bilbo Baggins who travels with a band of dwarves to save their home from the dragon Smaug. The film version veered from the books, was considered too long (1 book vs. 3 films) and was filmed at a high frame-rate – which many people found distracting. The trilogy was compared to ‘The Lord of the Rings’ – and tanked spectacularly.
