Turning 60 is your chance to kick back a little & focus on what makes you happy. Why? Because you’ve earned it! So, let’s look at how to make this decade one of the best yet with eight things many of us older people have learned to say “yes” to more often.

Embracing Leisurely Mornings
Who says you have to rush in the mornings? One of the best decisions I made was to stop setting the alarm on most days. Now, I wake up when I feel like it and grab my coffee—or maybe spend some time with the newspaper. It’s a calm start to the day and a small daily luxury that I absolutely deserve.
Investing in Hobbies
I’ve taken the plunge and started spending more time (and yes, a bit of money) on things I love doing. While some people think that tinkering in the garden or strumming my guitar are just ways to fill the time, they’re what I look forward to each day. Doing things just because you like them? Pure joy.
Prioritizing Travel
As I’ve become older, traveling has become even more important to me. It doesn’t matter if I’m exploring a quaint little town a few hours away or jetting off to a country I’ve never visited—I say “yes” to new sights & experiences. Each trip is a chance for adventure that helps me step out of my regular routine.
Focusing on Fitness
You have to pay more attention to your body and stay active when you age—so I’ve made exercise a more regular part of my week. Through yoga classes & morning swims, I’ve found lots of fun ways to keep moving. Of course, it doesn’t even need to be anything too intensive. Any kind of movement is good!
Choosing Comfort
Gone are the days of sacrificing comfort for style because I’d rather pick things that feel good all day long. I still like to look good but I’ve realized that you can have style & comfort at the same time. How? You just need to find what works for you—then rock those items with the confidence they deserve!
Saying Yes to Social Opportunities
I used to try to attend every social event because I thought I needed to. But now I pick & choose. If something sounds fun or interesting, I’m there—otherwise, I’m perfectly happy at home. The goal? Quality over quantity so that I can enjoy my social life without feeling stretched too thin.
Regular Health Check-ups
Of course, regular visits to the doctor aren’t always fun. Yet that doesn’t stop me from going and I make an effort to keep up with my health screenings & check-ups! It’s the best way to take care of myself—how else can I make sure I’m in great shape to enjoy all the other things on this list?
Exploring Culinary Adventures
I’ve taken to spicing up my culinary skills by trying new recipes and cuisines in my own kitchen. It’s a blast to experiment with flavors & dishes from around the world. Sometimes I even invite friends over to test. Cooking is now a fun hobby that delivers delicious rewards and lots of laughter, especially when something doesn’t go as planned.
