Things are tricky with love and, sometimes, no matter how hard we try, it doesn’t work out. It could be our unconscious mistakes that erode relationships with others. These simple slips can erode our relationships over time, leading to misperceptions and clashes. And sometimes it isn’t so obvious where you are getting it wrong.

Poor Communication

If you don’t communicate clearly, it can get misinterpreted. Maybe you feel like you need someone to know what’s up without you saying anything. This can lead to dissonance and disagreement.

Ignoring Boundaries

Everyone has a certain limit to what they are comfortable with. The violation of these boundaries can be problematic.

For instance, if you coerce someone to discuss something they don’t want to talk about, that can create conflict. Respecting each other’s limits shows you care and enables trust.

Neglecting Quality Time

It’s easy to get stuck in the day-to-day stuff and miss time with one another. You don’t connect with each other if you’re constantly on the go. You need time to bond.

Schedule regular activities together and enjoy each other’s company. This keeps the bond real and the relationship healthy.

Taking Each Other for Granted

If you assume that someone else knows you appreciate them without letting them know, they might never realize it. Saying thank you or expressing gratitude regularly can be very beneficial.

Small affirmations can make the other person feel important. Do not reserve a special occasion for treating them with respect; always take the time to appreciate all that they do for you.

Holding Grudges

Failure to be supportive of each other in difficult moments can break your relationship. This could be something as simple as being a listening ear or offering assistance with a problem. It bonds you together and makes it seem like you’re on the same team.
