These things make women happy, but not men

Small everyday moments and experiences often bring women joy in ways many men don’t relate to.

The pure joy of a dress with pockets

Women’s clothing is rarely designed with function in mind. But when that pretty little dress or floral skirt you just bought has magical pockets deep enough to hold your phone and keys, it feels like Christmas morning.

You immediately feel the need to tell all of your friends who compliment you on wearing it, “Thanks, and guess what? It has pockets!” Life suddenly feels elegant and oddly convenient at the same time.

The ritual of the “everything” shower

This is not a five-minute shower you take to clean yourself. This is a type of shower that makes a woman feel pampered.

Slathering on hair masks, body scrubs, conditioner, face masks, and moisturizers is a zen-like activity where she comes out feeling like a brand-new woman. Feeling mentally reset after stepping out of the steam shower, completely clothed in a fluffy towel robe, is unmatched by any other experience.

Finally finding the perfect skincare product

The struggle is real when it comes to finding skincare products that work.

Women spend years and hundreds of dollars on creams, cleansers, moisturizers, and acne treatments that promise miraculous results, but they rarely ever live up to the hype.

It feels good to finally end the cycle of testing out different products every month.

The deep satisfaction of the “debrief”

Whether it’s a three-hour phone call with your best friend or a brunch that stretches way beyond food, “the debrief” is sacred.

Going through every detail of a night out or crazy date with someone allows women to process their emotions and get a second opinion.

Sometimes it’s funny, other times it’s serious. But girlfriend talk is therapeutic and helps a woman leave the conversation with a totally clear head.

Finding a hair tie that actually works

Ladies know the struggle of finding a good hair tie. Most hair ties snap when you pull your hair tightest or grab and tear a chunk of hair out when you yank them too hard.

When a woman finds one that’s strong enough to last all day and gentle on the hair, she basically swears by it. She will go to great lengths to keep that hair tie handy.

The boost of a fresh manicure

For some women, there aren’t many things in this world more frustrating than chipped nail polish.

Whether she’s typing away on her laptop or holding her morning coffee, seeing clean, “done” nails can really trick her mind into thinking her life is together, too.

Coming back to a pre-cleaned home after a trip

Since women are usually the ones who hold the “mental load” of keeping the house organized and functioning, coming home from a trip can sometimes stress them out before they even walk through the door.

But when their significant other or family actually cleans the house before they come home from vacation, it feels like heaven. Instead of frantically cleaning when they get back (and ruining the vacation mindset), they can mentally unwind and relax.

The unspoken support in a public restroom

The culture inside a women’s restroom is one of the most wholesome places on earth.

Women will freely compliment each other on their hairstyles, share safety pins for a popped fly, or even give you a tampon if one woman forgot one.

It’s nice to feel that unspoken sisterhood and support from complete strangers that they just don’t get anywhere else.

Finding a great “dupe” for an expensive product

There is something indescribably satisfying about finding a “dupe.” A dupe is essentially a cheap version of an expensive product.

For example, a woman may find a drugstore lipstick that’s the exact same shade and consistency as that $50 one she has been eyeing. There’s a certain high one gets from being a “smart shopper.”

The mood shift of lighting a good candle

Simply turning off the big lights and lighting a favorite scented candle is an automatic anxiety reducer. It’s one’s body’s way of recognizing that work is over and they’re now in a safe place.

There’s something so comforting about telling the brain it’s time to relax by lighting a candle and dimming the lights. Home suddenly feels safe and cozy and the stress will instantly melt away.
