Extreme wealth can create a very different definition of what counts as an ordinary financial problem.
Mark Cuban: “Don’t Get That Latte”
Cuban has repeatedly used the $6–$10 daily latte as an example of unnecessary spending, suggesting people put the money into a money-market account instead. The advice sounds simple until you remember that eliminating coffee doesn’t solve a six-figure housing bill or childcare costs.
Grant Cardone: “Never Buy a House”
The real-estate investor has bluntly told people, “Never buy a house. Rent where you live.” He has also said, “It ain’t your house,” arguing that homeowners remain financially tied to taxes, insurance and maintenance. His own advice gets especially interesting given that he has owned multimillion-dollar homes.
Kim Kardashian: “Get Your A** Up and Work”
Kardashian’s 2022 advice to women in business became an instant controversy. She said, “It seems like nobody wants to work these days,” despite having grown up with significant family wealth and connections before becoming a billionaire herself.
Bill Ackman: “May I Meet You?”
The billionaire investor’s 2025 dating advice was simply to approach someone and ask, “May I meet you?” He said the line “almost never” resulted in rejection when he was younger. The post generated more than 26 million views and thousands of reactions, many mocking how disconnected the advice sounded from modern dating.
Elon Musk: “Some Temporary Hardship”
While discussing plans for massive government spending cuts in 2024, Musk said reducing spending “necessarily involves some temporary hardship” but would produce long-term prosperity. He also said everyone would take a “haircut.” For households dependent on government programs, “temporary hardship” can mean something considerably more serious than trimming a few luxuries.
