The early 2000s are back in 2026, and the revival is showing up in everything from fashion to cameras and even toys.
1. Low-Rise Jeans
Low-rise denim isn’t just a runway curiosity anymore. Circana says it was the fastest-growing women’s denim type from January through May 2026, making one of the most divisive 2000s styles surprisingly relevant again.
2. Small Shoulder Bags
The tiny shoulder bag is having another moment. Circana reports 24% dollar-sales growth for small shoulder bags in the 12 months through May 2026, a direct echo of early-2000s fashion.
3. Point-and-Shoot Cameras
Digital cameras that once seemed obsolete are becoming desirable again. The Washington Post reports Gen Z is embracing point-and-shoot cameras as part of a broader Y2K revival, partly because they create a look that feels different from smartphone photography.
4. Retro Transparent Tech
Clear plastic gadgets are back too. Current products include transparent digital cameras, cassette players, earbuds and even phones, tapping into nostalgia for the colorful technology of the early 2000s.
5. Lip Liner
A beauty product associated with earlier decades is booming again. Circana says lip-liner dollar sales increased 34% in the 12 months ending May 2026.
6. Trading Cards
Trading cards have become a serious nostalgia category. Circana says nearly 30% of consumers bought trading cards during the past year, with 44% of buyers saying nostalgia was one reason.
7. Retro Toys
The biggest surprise may be toys. Circana found sales among consumers 15 and older have increased 111% since 2020, making older consumers the fastest-growing part of the global toy market.
