5. Persian Qanats
More than 2,500 years ago, Persian engineers developed underground tunnels called qanats to transport groundwater over long distances without pumps.
Many of these systems are still functioning today in parts of the Middle East and North Africa.
6. The Great Pyramid of Giza
Built around 4,500 years ago, the Great Pyramid remained the tallest human-made structure on Earth for nearly 3,800 years.
