Vintage Furniture

That rocking chair or mid-century coffee table might be old, but it may fetch you a fortune. Collectors like old furniture, especially from the 1950s or earlier.
Items from famous designers or rare pieces carved from wood sell for a lot of money. Even if scratched or shabby, a buyer may see some benefit in fixing it up to its best.
Old Electronics

Those bulky VHS players, early gaming consoles like N64 or even the first-generation iPods are not junk. They’re nostalgia-packed treasures. Collectors like old tech – especially if they’re still in working condition. Even broken items are sometimes worth selling for parts or repair enthusiasts.
Books and First Editions

Those books on your bookshelf might be worth a lot more. First editions, signed editions or out of print classics are very collectible. Look for first editions of well-known writers or novels that were turned into movies. Even what may appear to be a simple book, such as an old cookbook, can be quite valuable if they’re uncommon.
Artwork and Posters

An old oil painting you bought years ago or the poster from a past concert might be worth more today. Old concert posters, especially the ones by bands that dominated the genre, and work by comparatively lesser-known artists that have been around a while can surprise you. Check for limited editions or signed pieces.
Sports Memorabilia

Sport enthusiasts like collecting signed baseballs, jerseys or even ticket stubs from old games. Even things you didn’t see as valuable, such as an old team pennant or trading cards, could be worth something. Sports memorabilia of superstar players or sporting championships can fetch thousands of dollars.
Collectible Toys

Childhood toys — or your children’s early toys — could go for thousands of dollars. Things such as original Barbie dolls, Star Wars figures or Hot Wheels cars that are in good condition or come in their original packaging are highly collectible. Even non-regular brands can make a lot of money if they’re rare or unique.
Coins and Currency

That jar of old coins in your home is perhaps more than pocket change. Coins with rare mint errors, discontinued designs, or coins made with precious metals are more valuable than the nominal amount. Collectors might also be interested in paper currency, such as old bills with unusual designs.
Vintage Clothing

Decades old clothes, especially designer ones, are extremely collectible. Retro clothes from the 70s, 80s, or even 90s are becoming popular again. Things such as leather jackets, band T-shirts or vintage dresses in good condition can turn out to be a rare find.
China and Ceramics

Those china plates and cups that are hiding in your cupboard could have more value than you’d believe. Antique china, preferably by celebrated brands such as Royal Doulton or Wedgwood, are collector’s pieces. Even if you don’t have all the pieces, individual items like serving platters or teapots can be quite expensive.
