10 essential chores most people don’t want to do

Keeping up with household chores isn’t easy. There are certain chores that almost no one wants to do but we can’t leave them out if we want a nice and tidy house.

Some chores feel annoying because they have to be done over and over again. They often take more time and energy than we’d like. However much we hate them, these chores are part of everyday life. Here are 10 household chores the majority of us absolutely hate but can’t live without.

Washing Dishes

There’s nothing fun about stepping in front of a sink of dishes that are dirty, especially when they’re stacked high after a big meal. Dried food is difficult to wash and harder still if you didn’t finish the dishes in a few days.

A lot of people hate it, as you’re never done; as soon as you’re done, you have more. But you have to wash them if you are going to eat off of fresh plates. So there’s no getting around that.

Taking Out the Trash

It isn’t exactly the most fun thing to haul out the trash, especially if it’s heavy and dripping. The smell can be rough, and it’s annoying to remember to do it when you’re comfortable at home.

But if you do skip this task, you will be left with rotten smells, fruit flies or worse. So, taking out the trash is a necessary (if dreaded) task.

Cleaning the Toilet

Cleaning the toilet is one of the least favorite jobs because, well, it’s not exactly a pleasant sight or smell. Sweeping the bowl, wiping down the seat and making it all hygienic, not exactly pleasant activities.

But ignoring it makes it only worse and nobody wants to share a filthy bathroom. This chore may be gross, but it’s essential for hygiene.

Dusting

Dust collects everywhere from bookshelves and tables to hard to reach corners. Dusting is not always hard, but it’s tiring; and the dust comes back as soon as you clean it.

Too much dust will give you allergies and it’s not great for furniture. That’s why dusting, no matter how bad it is, is a must.

Laundry

Laundry can take time, especially when you have to wash colors separately, load washers, then fold or iron afterwards. Folding and putting away clothes is repetitive, and for some, one of the worst parts of the task.

Yet clean clothes are a necessity. And you cannot avoid laundry for very long.

Vacuuming or Sweeping

The floor gets dirty fast, especially if you have children or animals. Cleaning and vacuuming can be a never-ending chore, with all the crumbs, dust and pet hair.

Vacuuming isn’t difficult. But it’s tedious and one that must be done once every couple of days. If you don’t do it, the floor will be more dirty and cluttered.

Cleaning the Fridge

Nobody likes going through the fridge, tossing expired food & cleaning up spills. It’s a job you can easily overlook until you notice odd smells or run out of space.

If left for too long, the mess and smell only worsen. It is important to keep the fridge clean so that the food stays fresh.

Making the Bed

Although it’s one of the easiest things to do, making the bed can seem pointless if you know it will be undone later at night. It’s annoying to do it early in the morning so some skip it.

The whole room looks unkempt with a messy bed. A tidy bed makes the room look neater.

Cleaning Windows and Mirrors

Although it is easy to wipe windows and mirrors, getting rid of streaks is more complicated and time-consuming. Smudges, fingerprints, dust gather quickly.

Cleaning is necessary to keep the glass surfaces looking clear. It’s an easy task to skip but it’s hard to ignore a dirty mirror or window.

Organizing Clutter

Over time, things start to pile around the house; from random papers to clothes that are not put away. Cleaning things out, choosing what to keep & what to throw away, and getting everything in order is hard and takes time.

Keeping clutter in your house is no fun. It creates a messy space that’s difficult to enjoy, so it is something that must be done.
