We all know that dollar store items aren’t meant to last forever, but these are items I consistently buy from Dollarama because they’re inexpensive and have never let me down.
Greeting cards

I always buy my cards from Dollarama. They’re just as nice as cards sold at grocery stores or card shops for exorbitant prices. You can find so many options for birthday cards, wedding cards, holiday cards, thank you cards, etc., that I almost never have a problem finding something I like.
Plus, since nobody really keeps the card itself but the handwritten message inside, I don’t see the purpose of spending five or six dollars on a card.
Seasonal decorations

I like to stop at Dollarama every holiday and see what new seasonal decor they have. Whether it be Christmas, Halloween, Easter, or Canada Day, I can usually find some decorations that look pretty cool without breaking the bank.
I love decorating my home for holidays, but don’t want to spend loads of money on things I only need for one season. Dollarama really makes seasonal decorating affordable.
Party supplies

Whenever I am throwing a birthday party, barbecue, or family get-together, I purchase a lot of my party supplies at Dollarama. Plates, cups, napkins, balloons, decorations, etc., are so much cheaper there than at the grocery store.
No one even realizes they came from Dollarama because they seem just as good as the others. It allows me to stay on budget and still throw a great party.
Gift bags and tissue paper

Whenever I need some gift wrapping, Dollarama is my go-to store. I will never again spend five to eight dollars on one gift bag from a grocery store/pharmacy, etc. when I know it’s going in the trash after your party is over.
I always go down to the Dollarama stationery aisle to stock up on bulk heavy-duty gift bags, large rolls of thick wrapping paper, matte kraft paper, and tissue bundles.
Cleaning cloths

Microfibre cloths from Dollarama have been impressively effective around my house. I use them on furniture, kitchen counters, mirrors and even my car. They’re durable too; they’ve lasted through many washes and still work. Considering how often I use them, I see no reason to buy more expensive ones.
Storage containers

When I recently took on the DIY project of organizing my pantry and under-sink cabinets from scratch, I saved hundreds by picking up all of my containers here instead of at a trendy organizing store.
They have a wide selection of plastic, wire, and mesh storage baskets that are stiff, easy to wipe down and make my shelving look streamlined, for a fraction of the cost.
Kitchen utensils

Whenever I need a spatula, whisk, measuring cup, or wooden spoon I first head to Dollarama. I’ve found that these simple cooking utensils tend to last way longer than I would have ever anticipated.
I don’t feel the urge to splurge for simple cooking. Saving money here allows me to spend more on kitchen items that really matter.
Notebooks

I’m constantly writing lists or taking notes or brainstorming projects, so I work through notebooks fairly rapidly. Dollarama notebooks are cheap, and the paper is good enough for day-to-day writing. I use them so often that I like being able to buy multiples of them at once without breaking the bank.
Candles

I light candles all the time to make my house smell warm and inviting. I won’t spend $30 each at boutique candle shops when Dollarama has so many great options.
I go directly to the jar and tin container aisle as they carry some unexpectedly elegant fragrances such as amber and eucalyptus, which smell gorgeous without the chemical afternote. Plus, their regular scented tea lights and pillars burn cleanly for hours.
Batteries

I keep a stash of Dollarama batteries at home at all times. I find them fine for TV remotes, clocks, flashlights and toys. For daily use, they’ve never failed me.
I won’t use them for high-drain gadgets, but for basic things around the house, I have no issues. They’re an easy way to save some cash on something everyone eventually needs.
Craft supplies

When I need crafting supplies, Dollarama is normally the first place I check. Glue, paint brushes, construction paper, stickers, markers, and so much more can be purchased at affordable prices.
If I’m working on a hobby or helping my kids with a school project, I can usually find what I’m looking for. Since the prices are so cheap, I don’t feel bad stocking up on extras to keep at home.
Hair accessories

Hair accessories seem to disappear into nowhere around my house, so I quit buying the pricey little packs at the pharmacy. I pick up the mega multi-packs of simple black bobby pins and thick, metal-free hair elastics here. They have great stretch/hold and don’t snap after one twisting motion.
Snacks

I always make sure to look through the snack aisle before I leave Dollarama. They typically have popular chocolate bars, cookies, chips, and more at unbeatable prices. It’s the perfect way to indulge your sweet tooth without overpaying at a convenience store. I never buy all of my snacks there, but I usually have at least one thing in my cart.
