Names have weird cultural connotations sometimes developed from smooth-talking movie characters, or a collection of terrible dating experiences, so we asked some women what names they usually associate with horn dogs.
Jake

Jake is usually portrayed as suave, smooth-talking and much too flirtatious with everyone around him. He’s usually the guy who knows all the right things to say to make you feel unique, even if he’s telling every girl the same thing. He has the reputation of being a flirt who likes his attention from anywhere he can get it.
Hunter

Because the name itself is an active verb, it is incredibly difficult not to link Hunter with hunting. It’s the age-old stereotype of a guy who plays games when it comes to dating. He’s always keeping a mental scorecard and checking you off his list as soon as you become his romantic catch of the day.
Chad

Chad is confident and good-looking. He is typically imagined to be always seeking out his next sexual conquest. Popular memes online show Chad as the cool guy who people flock to and never takes anything seriously.
Brody

Brody screams college frat house energy and backwards baseball caps. It’s a name that just epitomizes that player who uses overused cheesy pick-up lines, is good at casual hookups, and disappears when a woman wants to discuss anything real.
Jax

Made trendy by testosterone-fueled TV antiheroes, Jax sounds more like a guy who owns an overpriced motorcycle and wears a leather jacket indoors. It’s the name of a man who emanates bad boy energy.
Brad

He’s the classic, smooth-talking antihero in every teen movie of the ’90s, so culture has pretty much coded Brad as a player. He is someone who uses charm as a weapon to get women to do what he wants, refuses to limit his options, and probably has multiple dating apps opened with active profiles at all times.
Derek

Derek has had the stereotype attached to him of being pretty, flirtatious, and aware of his good looks. He’s always been portrayed as someone who knows he can get any girl he wants and has often used it to his advantage. In these situations, Derek can seem very confident and charming, but self-centered.
Ryan

Lots of women consider Ryan to be full of confidence, charisma, and to enjoy the attention he receives from women. In all these stereotypes, Ryan tends to come across as someone who likes the social scene and knows how to put himself out there.
Kyle

Whether he deserves it or not, Kyle is stereotyped to be rash, immature, and always needing attention. Kyle may be associated with being hyper, reckless, and someone who cares more about having fun than being serious, which leads some to believe he’s unreliable when it comes to relationships.
Tyler

Tyler is known to be the person who texts you “you up?” at 12 AM and always has an excuse as to why he wants to hang out. He comes off as someone who is spontaneous and a player who you can have fun with, but he’s not always emotionally available. Shows tend to portray Tyler as someone who wants everything to be casual and no strings attached.
