Some dogs just find that one special person and devote all of their love and loyalty to them.

Akita’s loyalty is legendary. Famously known for the dog Hachiko that sat at a train station for years waiting for his owner to come home, they are devoted, extremely protective of their person, and often suspicious of strangers.

They tend to form a singular bond with the person who takes care of them and can be rather stoic, courageous protectors of that person.

Great Pyrs are calm dogs, but once they make a connection with a person, they follow them everywhere with watchful eyes.

Basenjis are cat-like and will often seem dismissive of strangers and even other dogs. However, they adore their person and form an intense bond.

They are not typically the dog running around every person in the room, licking their face. They pick a favorite and provide them with quiet, constant, specialized attention.

These dogs have been nicknamed “Velcro dogs” for a reason. Dobermans can pick up on their main human’s every mood shift and move.

Once they pick you as their person, you can count on a dog who will follow you everywhere you go to protect you with fierce loyalty and plenty of snuggles.

Shiba Inus are a lot like Basenjis. They can be quite snooty and picky about who they allow into their lives. While not always everybody’s friend, when these dogs make a connection with a human, they make it count.

The relationship a Shiba Inu builds with their favorite human is loyal and strong.

Australian Cattle Dogs were bred to work tirelessly all day on a farm. As you can imagine, they can become obsessed with the person they work for.

Devoted to the handler that trains them, you might find these dogs sticking by your side for the rest of your life.

Border Collies have the greatest desire to work and be mentally stimulated of any breed, causing them to seek direction and feedback from you at all times.

Having been bred to work cooperatively with a human during complex herding operations, they form an extremely strong bond with only one person, their handler.

Devoted, energetic souls, border collies crave to please the one they become bonded with and love being a part of that person’s life.
