As a parent, you’re constantly on the go, trying to find a moment for yourself. With such a whirlwind of activity, it’s easy to get stressed out and this makes it even harder to keep up with everything. The good news, though, is that there are some great ways to manage that stress. You don’t have to find extra hours in the day! Here are ten techniques to help you beat stress and become the superhero parent you’re meant to be.

Delegate and Say Yes to Help

You don’t have to do everything yourself. Really, you don’t. Get the family involved with chores, or say yes when someone offers to help because sharing the load lightens your stress. Better yet, you’ll also teach your kids about responsibility & teamwork. It’s always okay to lean on others so don’t be afraid of doing so.
Family Calendar

Keeping track of everyone’s activities sure is difficult so how about setting up a family calendar? It could be a big one on the fridge or a digital version everyone can access. Either way, you’ll see who needs to be where & when, which should make planning far easier. Try color-coding each family member’s activities, too. Then you’ll be able to glance and go!
Weekly Planning Sessions

Likewise, take a bit of time every week to map out what’s on the menu and pick out outfits. You should also line up whatever’s happening. Figuring this stuff out ahead of time means you’re not scrambling in the morning, trying to decide who’s wearing what or what’s for breakfast, giving you the time to actually rest a little. Every parent knows how valuable that is!
Morning Pages

Kick off your day by sharing your inner thoughts on paper for three pages straight. It doesn’t matter what you’re sharing—just think of it like cleaning your mind of all the clutter that’s been bugging you so you’re not dragging it around all day. You don’t need to be Shakespeare or anything. It’s for your eyes only. Put pen to paper and let those ideas flow!
Nature Breaks

Being outside just does the soul good, whether that’s from hitting a trail over the weekend or just strolling through your local park. Even goofing around in the yard is great! You’d be surprised at how much nicer you feel after getting some fresh air in green spaces as it dials down the stress quite a bit. Better yet, take the kids with you for a fun day out!
Connect with Other Parents

Of course, feeling like you’re part of a team makes all the difference so try meeting up with a parenting group. This could be online or right in your neighborhood. Wherever it is, these groups give you the chance to swap stories & get some advice—or just vent a little. Really, it’s nice to speak to people who are in the same boat. They totally understand where you’re coming from and that’s the most comforting feeling as a parent.
Meal Prep Magic

You should spend a few hours over the weekend getting your meals started because creating big batches of food or getting ingredients ready for the week will save you a lot of time. And that means less stress! Beyond that, you’ll also be eating healthier since you know exactly what’s going into your body. Getting your kids involved turns it into fun family time.
Routine Recharge

Before the evening chaos, try carving out a little me-time of around 10 minutes or so. During this time, treat yourself to whatever helps you relax—maybe a quick walk, a bit of meditation or simply a cup of tea. Essentially, you’re hitting the reset button on the day. It’ll leave you to tackle homework & dinner much more calmly.
Positive Affirmations

Don’t forget to pepper your day with some positivity. For example, stick affirmations on your mirror or fridge to remind you how awesome you are. These little pick-me-ups will keep your stress in check and lift your spirits throughout your day. But that’s not all. Doing so shows your kids the power of thinking positively so they’ll benefit, too.
Dance It Out

Who cares if you’re not ready for the dance floor? Blasting your favorite tunes and having a dance-off in the living room is one of the easiest ways to release some stress. Simply put on your favorite tunes—and get moving! Letting loose in this way reminds you all that it’s okay to be a little silly sometimes. Just enjoy the moment!
